An overlay alternating pressure mattress system on 5in air cells, for preventing and treating pressure ulcers in people at high risk. An air sensor and microcomputer regulator sense the pressure continuously and hold the interface pressure low, and the pump runs near silently, so sleep and circulation are left undisturbed. The settings are simple enough to set up quickly at the right pressure for the individual.
